15 Days- Wildlife Safari uganda kenya

This tour comprises all of our favorite national parks and activities and is the ultimate tour for those who have time to experience all of Uganda’s highlights. Taking in 3 out of the 10 national parks, as well as many other areas of staggering natural beauty, this trip follows an anti-clockwise circuit of the whole country, starting in Entebbe and ending the Masai Mara.

Activities include game drives, river cruises, cultural encounters and hiking, all set against the backdrop of arguably the most stunning scenery that Uganda has to offer. There is no other country in Africa – like Uganda – the “Pearl of Africa”. In 1908, in his book, My African Journey, Sir Winston Churchill wrote: “For magnificence, for variety of form and color, for profusion of brilliant life — bird, insect, reptile, beast — for vast scale — Uganda is truly “the Pearl of Africa”. The Kingdom of Uganda is a fairy tale. The scenery is different, the climate is different and most of all, the people are different from anything elsewhere to be seen in the whole range of Africa

ITINERARY

Day 3-Murchison falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s oldest and largest conservation area, covering an area of 3,840 Km² and home to over 451 bird species, including the highly sought after and rare shoebill stork and a total of 76 different mammal species, including the highest concentration of Rothschild’s giraffe in the world. Other game sightings regularly include lion, elephant, hippo, leopard, buffalo, hyena, warthog and various antelope. Arguably the highlight of this trip is the mighty River Nile, which bisects the park and is forced through an 8m wide cleft in the rock at Murchison Falls, plunging into the Devil’s Cauldron below.

Day 4-Murchison falls National Park

Depart for the ferry crossing to the North Bank, taking along a packed breakfast from your lodge. Enjoy a 4-hour game drive around the Buligi game tracks, which stretch between the Victoria and Albert Niles, and down to the Nile-Lake Albert Delta. Most of the park’s game and birdlife can be viewed from here, but please note – nothing is guaranteed! 11.00am: Take the ferry back to the South Bank and enjoy lunch and a well-deserved break at your preferred lodge. You will also have the opportunity to experience the Baboon Colony on top of the falls giving you a great view of the Murchison falls and have enough time with the baboons.

Day 6-Transfer to Kidepo Valley NP.

07:30am: After an early breakfast, Today will be a full day of driving. You will drive to the north east of the country, head to Kidepo Valley National Park for an epic adventure with wildlife. This is still a virgin park with almost all the wildlife like lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants and other antelopes, Your trip to Kidepo will take in the contrasts of the grassland plains of the Narus Valley, where most of the park’s wildlife congregates due to the permanent water supply, and the hot and arid area of the extreme north, beside the South Sudanese border. You will cross over the Kidepo River and because it is dry for the majority of the year, you should be able to take a stroll along its 50m wide bed of white sands, surrounded on either side by Borassus palms. 11km north of here you will reach the Kanangarok hot springs – a fabulous place to look out for ostrich and to admire the mountains beyond the frontier. You will arrive in the evening and time for a game drive.

Day 7-Game drive in Kidepo Valley NP.

Today will be a day to try out all your luck on the game drives as mentioned earlier, Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park, nestled in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between the Sudanese and Kenyan borders in the north-eastern Karamoja region of Uganda. Transacted by the Narus and Kidepo Rivers, the park hosts a profusion of big game, with over 80 species of mammals, including lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, zebra and various antelope species. A staggering 28 species of mammal found in Kidepo cannot be found in any other national park in Uganda: cheetah, striped hyena, aardwolf, caracal and kudu to name but a few. With a total of more than 475 different bird species, Kidepo is also considered outstanding for birds of prey and 58 different species have been recorded here. Return for lunch and relax after you may decide to go for an evening game drive to increase your chances-you can discuss this with your guide.

Day 8- A hike to Kidepo Lonyili Summit.

Framed in by rugged mountains, jagged hills and rolling valleys. Kidepo is a virtual Eden. This park is one of Uganda’s best kept secret. Today you will take a hike to the famous Kidepo Lonyili summit with a guided ranger. Other optional activities could be a ranger guided night game drive.

Day 9-Transfer to Moroto (Cultural experience with the Ik tribe). Today we move camp to Moroto town where we shall have a cultural experience with the Ik tribe. The Ik people sometimes called Teuso, are an ethnic group numbering about 10,000 people living high in the mountains of Morungole northeastern Uganda near the border with Kenya, next to the more populous Karamojong and Turkana peoples and in the Kidepo Valley Park Region of Northeastern Uganda. It is said that they migrated from Ethiopia and first settled in Kenya and migrated to what is now Kidepo Valley Park. Ik means “head of migration” or the first ones to migrate here. The Ik were hunters and gatherers however due to cattle raids from other tribes such as the Turkana and Pokot of Kenya, the Karamojong of Uganda and the Tuposa of South Sudan they gave up cattle herding for subsistence farming, goat keeping and honey production. Their language is a member of the highly divergent Kuliak sub group of the Nilo- Saharan languages.

Day 10-Transfer to Sipi Falls via Pian Upe Game reserve.

Although Pain Upe wildlife reserve cannot be rated as high as the other national parks in Uganda, in terms of density and diversity of wildlife, it is worth visiting when travelling to Uganda. Various types of antelopes especially the roan antelope, baboons, velvet monkey, the strong vocalized patas monkey, zebras, buffalos, dik dik, birds etc. are the easiest to be seen and with a bit of luck, you can also spot the cheetahs, greater kudu, buffalos, black backed and side stripped jackals, eland, and harte beast.

Day 11- Sipi Falls hike then transfer to Kisumu-Kenya.

The Sipi Falls area is the starting point for many hikes up Mt. Elgon. The most popular route starts in Budadiri and follows the Sasa trail to the summit and then descends down the Sipi trail back into the Sipi Falls. Hikes round the falls offer stunning views of the Karamoja plains, Lake Kyoga, and the slopes of Mt. Elgon. Silverback is glad to organize for you this safari as we wish to show you the best of Uganda with our experienced safari guides.

Day 12- Transfer to the Masai Mara in Kenya.

Drive while you enjoy the stunning views of the largest Valley in the world, said to be visible from outer space. Arrive at your camp in Masai Mara for a leisurely lunch. Your afternoon game drive starts at 3.30pm, allowing spotting of the amazing wildlife in the reserve ranging from the Big Cats such as Lion, Leopard & Cheetah to Rhino, Elephant and Wildebeest.
